There are plenty of reasons to go to your favorite Mexican restaurants in Manchester. There’s the fun and friendly atmosphere, the great service, and—of course—the food. But you can get those things at plenty of Manchester restaurants, so why should you spend your night out at Vallarta restaurants? Two words: fresh guacamole. As much as we love the flavors and spices of all Mexican food, nothing can top fresh guac. While there’s something special about guacamole from a Mexican restaurant, you can also make pretty good guac at home if you’re staying in this evening.
Selecting an avocado that’s ready to be made into guacamole can be tricky, and it’s often what keeps people from trying it. However, once you learn how to tell if an avocado is guacamole-ready, you can whip up some guac whenever you want. There are two things to check when selecting an avocado for guacamole: color and firmness. When avocados are first picked, they are bright green on the outside. As they ripen, they turn dark green or almost black. Those are the ones you want to pick. Once you’ve found one with the right color, gently press on it with your thumb. If it gives just a little, it’s ready.
After you’ve picked a good avocado, you’ve already done the hard part. All you have to do now is add a few simple ingredients to your mashed avocado. The simplest guacamole recipes only use lime juice and salt. But if you want to go beyond the basics, you can add a few more traditional ingredients. Diced tomatoes and onion add some more textures to the mix, and cilantro brings extra freshness. If you’re really pressed for time, mash your avocado and then stir a few spoonfuls of a basic salsa. It won’t have the subtlety of a more carefully prepared guacamole, but it will do the trick.
Even after you get the hang of making guacamole at home, it’s still nice to go out and taste how the pros do it. Get your friends together and come to Vallarta!
