For many, when you think of celebrating with a margarita, there are a few days that come to mind. Cinco de Mayo is, of course, the most popular. However, did you know that there is a National Drink Margaritas Day as well? It’s true, and we’re so excited too! Here at one of your favorite restaurants in Manchester, NH, Vallarta Restaurants, we’re gearing up February 22nd and hope that you are too!

From traditional freshly squeezed lime margaritas to frozen and fruity concoctions, we’re creating this famous drink just the way you like it. With this in mind, we also want to provide you with a spin on traditional – a spicy spin. If you like spice, and you love margaritas, this recipe is a must-try!

Spicy Jalapeno Margarita

Ingredients:

• 2 oz tequila

• 1 oz lime juice – bottled or freshly squeezed, the choice is yours!

• 1/2 oz triple sec

• 1/2 oz jalapeno simple syrup (recipe below)

• Salt for rim (optional)

• Jalapeno slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Rim a glass with salt, if desired.

2. Combine tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and jalapeno simple syrup in a shaker.

3. Shake with ice and strain into the rimmed glass.

4. Garnish with a jalapeno slice, if desired.

Jalapeno Simple Syrup:

• 1/2 cup sugar

• 1/2 cup water

• 2-3 jalapenos, sliced

Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and jalapenos.

2. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved.

3. Remove from heat and let sit for 30 minutes to infuse.

4. Strain the jalapenos before using the syrup.

One of our favorite twists on this spicy margarine recipe is that you can control the spice level. Whether you’re looking for a little kick or a whoa baby response, gauge your simple syrup accordingly!
